「こんなの簡単。」と思います。
 
あなたもそうだったでしょう。
私もそうでした。
そして、他の人もそうです。
 
そして、ほぼ全ての人が
「こんなに難しいとは思わなかった」と。
 
そうなる理由の一つに
シャフトがかなりしなるということがあります。
 
「シャフト　しなり」で画像検索すると
信じられないぐらいシャフトが曲がっているのを
確認できます。
 
上記のイラストは決して誇張ではありません。
 
バットで止まっているボールを打つことは
比較的簡単です。
 
でも、くねくね曲がる針金の先に重りがあり
その重りでボールに当てると考えた場合、
その難しさはご想像頂けると思います。
 
実際のシャフトは
そこまでくねくねとは曲がらないにしろ、
その人のその時々の振り方により
曲がり度合いがそのつど変化します。
 
それで常にボールがまっすぐ飛ぶように
ヘッドを当てていくことは
尋常技ではありません。
変な方向に飛んでいく方が普通です。
 
加えて、シャフトがしなっている
ということに肉眼では気づけない
という所にも難しさがあります。
 
一方、しならないようにXシャフトで打てば
確かに当たるかもしれませんけど、
普通の人では私を含めて飛びません。

Difficulty of golf: The shaft is unexpectedly soft
 

 
Most people who play golf for the first time think,
“This is very very easy.”
 
You probably thought the same.
I did too.
And so did others.
 
And almost everyone said
“I didn’t think it would be this difficult.”
 
One of the reasons for this is that the shaft is quite flexible.
 
If you do an image search for “flexible　bend　shaft　golf”, you will see that the shaft is incredibly bent.
The above illustration is no exaggeration.
 
Hitting a stationary ball with a bat is relatively easy.
 
But if you imagine there being a weight at the end of a twisting wire and you trying to hit a ball with that weight, you can imagine how difficult it would be.
 
Although the actual shaft doesn’t bend that much,
the degree of bending changes depending on the person’s swing at each moment.
 
So it’s not an easy skill to hit the ball so that it always flies straight.
It’s more common for the ball to fly in a strange direction.
 
Another difficulty is that it is difficult to tell with the naked eye that the shaft is bending.
 
On the other hand, if you hit it with a stiff shaft so that it doesn’t bend, you might be able to hit it, but for the average person, myself included, it won’t fly far.
