まあ、かなり買いやすそうなボールです。
1個当たり130円ほどですので、
初心者の方でも気楽に使えたでしょう。
 
実際、ゴルフショップ・ゴルフ場で多く売られて
いました。
 
でも、このボールの1993年新発売当時の値段は
驚くなかれの1個800円です。
 
私も1ダース9,600円でこのボールを買いました。
 
が、当時の私はフルパワーでラウンドをしますと、
1ラウンドで10個近くのOB量産能力を
保持していましたので、
 
「1ラウンドでボール代が7千円ぐらいになってしまうな。」
と、このボールを使えずにいたところ、
ふと気づくと、ダース2,000円に値下がり。
さらに、15個2,000円に。
 
このショックは強烈でした。
 
もっと高いボールもあり、このボールの上位商品である
1996年発売開始の「ツアースペシャルメタルミックスW」
に至ってはなんと1個900円。
 
さすがに高すぎてあまり売れなかったのか、
ダンロップは2年後に「マックスフライ　ハイブリッド」
を発売開始とし、これは大ヒットしますが、
 
「メタルミックス」ほどではないにしろ、
これもまた高かった。
 
現在において高いボールというイメージがあるのは
Z-STARとかPRO-V1ですが、
これらでも1ダース5,000円前後。
 
いかに当時のボールが高かったかという話です。
 
当時は、大卒初任給が19万円ぐらいでしたので、
今の換算で言えば、
 
「ツアースペシャルメタルミックスW」は
1ダース12,500円ぐらいになります。
1個1,000円ですね。
 
で？
 
強いて付け加えますと、私ぐらいのレベルなら
ボールはまあなんでもいいんじゃないかと。
 
ということは、高いボールを買う必要はないと？
 
いやいや、ショット精度の高い方々や

ドライバーのヘッドがパーシモンからメタルに代わり、
メタルの中でもチタンヘッドがもてはやされた頃です。
 
で、ボールにもメタル（チタン）をという
わけのわからなくなった時代でもあったように思います。
 
なんせ、バブル真っただ中に開発されたボールですから。
 
でも、飛ぶような気がしたんですよね。
すぐにOBにしちゃうから
正確な飛距離はよくわからなかったですけど。

How expensive were golf balls in the past?
 

 
Well, these balls seem pretty affordable.
They cost about 130 yen each,
so even beginners could use them with ease.
 
In fact, they are often sold at golf shops and golf courses.
 
However, when this ball was first released in 1993, it was priced at a shocking 800 yen each.
 
I also bought a dozen of these balls for 9,600 yen.
The exchange rate at the time was 111 yen to the dollar, so 9,600 yen was approximately $86.

When the Tour Special Metal Mix W was released, driver heads were changing from persimmon to metal, and titanium heads were becoming very popular among metal heads.
 
It was also a strange time when they started trying to put metal (titanium) into the ball.
 
After all, the ball was developed in the midst of the bubble economy.
 
But I felt like it was flying.
