パターだけは何年も同じ物を使っているという方、
多数いらっしゃいます。
 
下手だから何でもいいという方も
いらっしゃるかもしれませんが、
むしろお上手な方にそれは多いように思います。
 
「中古で〇〇円だったけど、手放せんわ。」
と言う方も多々いらっしゃいます。
 
パターには「最新のテクノロジー」だとか、
「究極の〇〇」という言葉は無縁とも思えます。
 
ピンタイプのパターに大きな性能進歩は
感じられませんし。
 
一方、アニカ・ソレンスタムで
一世を風靡した2ボールパター。
 

 
コースでの使用率は5割を超えているのでは？
というほど大ヒットしましたが、
アニカの最後のメジャー優勝から11年、
今やもう誰も使っていません。
 
そう、同じ物をずっと使っている人が多くいる反面、
コロコロ替える人もそれこそゴロゴロいます。
 
曰く、「すごくフィーリングがよくて、よく入る」と。
 
けど、しばらくすると信じられないくらい入らなくなり、
また別のに替えるとまたよく入るようになる。
 
けど・・・・・・と同じことを
何度も繰り返す方々です。
 
不思議なんですけど、パターを替えると
しばらく入るようになることが
確かにあるんですよねえ。
 
じきにまた入らなくなりますが。
 
同じ原理を利用し、
パターを数本持っていて、入らなくなると
別のパターに順番に替えていく、
という方もいらっしゃいます。
 
同じパターなんだけど、
打ち方や握り方を周期的に変える
という方もいらっしゃいます。
 
パター関係は打ち方も含めて
どういうものがよいのか
本当によくわかりませんが、
 
2ボールパターはデザインが悪かったのかなあ
という気はします。
 
ゴルファーの方々は
デザインにもうるさいんですよねえ。

There are many people who say this.
 
It seems to me that when it comes to putters, sales talk like “latest technology” or “the ultimate ____” has nothing to do with it.
 
I don’t see any big performance improvements with pin-type putters.
 
On the other hand, Annika Sorenstam made the 2-ball putter popular.
 

 
It was such a big hit that over 50% of golfers use it, but now, 11 years after Annika’s last major win, no one uses it anymore.
 
Yes, while there are many people who use the same things for a long time, there are also many people who change them frequently.
 
He says, “This putter has a great feeling and goes in well.”
 
But after a while his putts start going in incredibly poorly, and then when he switches to a different putter his putts start going in again.

I don’t really know what kind of putter is best, including how to hit it, but I do feel like the 2-ball putter was poorly designed.
 
Golfers are very picky about design.
